It’s easy to cover dark circles with makeup. But before hiding the problem, try to fix it!
Dark circles and bags under the eyes make a person look tired or sick. This problem has several causes. First, it may be a heredity issue, being more evident in people with very pale skin and sunken eyes.
Age is another factor. The skin around the eyes is very sensitive and over time, following the natural process of aging, increasingly thins, making visible the blood vessels in that area. Also, sun exposure accentuates this process.
Often, dark circles are a reflection of a chaotic lifestyle, sleepless nights, alcohol or tobacco excess, stress and health problems.
Fortunately, although we can’t completely eliminate them, we can greatly reduce them, taking into account a few things. Here’s what you need to do:
1. Reduce salt intake:
Salt produces water retention in the tissues, poor blood flow, and the appearance of blue veins under the skin. To improve blood circulation, consume foods rich in omega-3, such as salmon.
2. Follow a balanced diet:
Add more fruits and vegetables to your daily diet, drink enough water, stop smoking and reduce alcohol, avoid drinking coffee and sweets. Excess has adverse health effects. Smoking produces vascular problems – like prominent blood vessels.
3. Apply cold slices of raw potato to your eye:
It is an old trick, used for thousands of years against dark circles and puffiness. Potato whitens and brightens the eye area, leaving a refreshed skin.
4. Use peppermint leaf paste around the eyes:
It is sufficient to crush some fresh mint leaves and to apply them to your eyes. Natural cooling effect will immediately calm the skin and will increase blood flow.
5. Cucumber slices hydrate the skin:
Cucumber has an astringent effect, refreshes and softens your skin while minimizing bags under the eyes.
6. Apply tea compresses:
Chamomile is the perfect remedy for tired eyes. Its anti-inflammatory action is often compared to that of hydrocortisone. All you have to do is to soak two tea bags in hot water, let cool and apply them to your eyes for 15 minutes.
7. Milk reduces dark circles:
Its content of lactic acid, fats, amino acids, proteins and vitamins help to reduce inflammation. Dab the eye area every night with a cotton pad soaked in cold milk.
For guaranteed effect, you can prepare a mask made of milk and almond powder. Apply it to the eye and leave it on for 5 minutes.
